A Christening (or Service of Baptism)

Baptism marks the beginning of a journey with God which continues for the rest of our lives, the first step of faith in response to God’s love. For all involved, but especially parents and godparents, it is a special time to reconsider and renew your own faith in Jesus and your part in his church.

To help with this, every term, we we offer a Baptism Preparation course consisting of 4 sessions run both online and in person. We offer these to families who would see your child’s baptism as a doorway to worshipping with us regularly in Heswall. For this reason baptisms take place in our Sunday worship.

A Service of Thanksgiving for the Gift of a Child

Some people, quite appropriately, do not wish to make the commitments to Christian faith or being part of the church that are involved in baptism. So we also offer a joyful service of thanksgiving for parents who simply want to come to church and celebrate the birth (or adoption) of your child. We offer this service to anyone with connections to Heswall, no matter where you live. We are happy to arrange services on Sundays or at other times to suit your family.

Clergy or church staff lead Collective Worship in school every week; we welcome the school to church for educational visits and acts of worship at significant times during the year; we seek to actively encourage the school’s Christian ethos, support staff, children and parents, and play our part in helping the school fulfil its vision.

Whilst we actively engage with other local schools too, our partnership with St. Peter’s as a Church School is unique and this is reflected in the school admissions policy which includes criterion 3: “children whose parents are faithful and regular worshippers in the Parish of Heswall.”

Parents looking to apply to St. Peter’s School using church attendance as an admission criterion are strongly advised to speak to the Rector so that proper evidence is recorded over the required 6 month period of attendance. The full school admissions policy and the supplementary form required to evidence church attendance are available on the school website.

• Little Fishes runs on Tuesdays at 10 - 11.30am for pre-school children; £3 per child (includes all snacks for children, tea, coffee and cake for adults).  

The Lighthouse Church

• Little Lights runs on Thursdays at 10 - 11.30am for pre-school children; £3 per child (includes all snacks for children, tea, coffee and cake for adults).

We have space in our church buildings for smaller folk to play, giving you chance to sit back and receive.

Youth Fellowship welcomes all young people in year 9 up to year 13 (aged 14 -18).

We meet on Sunday evenings (term time) at The Lighthouse Church at 7.30pm till 8.45pm for cake and discussions. It’s a great opportunity to explore faith and grow as disciples.

We also have weekly Life Groups that meet as various times in the week depending on year group. For more information, contact Dani dani@heswallparish.co.uk

During our time together we worship, pray, and study the bible. The groups include people from various backgrounds and all are welcome to join. Please contact Dani- dani@heswallparish.co.uk if you are interested in joining a group.

Impact is a safe space for young people to have fun, belong, grow and encounter God! 

Anyone in year 6 to year 9 (aged 11-14) is welcome to join us for cake, games and faith-based discussion. We meet on Thursdays (term time) after school in St Peter’s Centre and Sundays at 5pm in The Lighthouse Church. 

Our aim is to help them ENGAGE in a relationship with Christ by creating an environment in which they are encouraged to pursue intimacy with God, involvement within the church and influence within their communities.

Our task is to make disciples of Jesus, EMPOWERED by the Holy Spirit, growing upward in worship, inward in commitment and outward in evangelism.

Our vision is to see a new generation of believers ENTRUSTED with the task of leading their families, schools, towns and nations to Jesus.
