No, not Banksy, but Nehemiah.
Starting on the 4th September our sermon topics for autumn 2016 will be from the book of Nehemiah. He was instrumental in the rebuilding and re-establishment of Jerusalem in the fifth century B.C. following the Babylonian exile. You can find out more about the archaelogy of the ‘man behind the wall’ here, but we start to look at this biblical leader to see the God behind the man and how he can influence our lives, our leadership and our direction as a Parish worshipping together as a community and in the community, building not a wall but a church.
As we begin this new sermon series ‘Building Vision,’ we are picking up some of the teaching given us on the Parish Day at Home. To engage with this more fully you might like to read John White’s great little book ‘Excellence in Leadership – the Pattern of Nehemiah.’
