News

This will be updated with "family" news as the week progresses

  • During the February 2012 half term an adult mission team will be travelling to Uganda to provide support to the Rock of Joy projects, make sure to keep an eye open for the various fundraising events in January 2012 which will include a "strictly" jive night on Saturday 14th Jan - don't worry, Craig won't be there!

  • Our very own Recd Jacky Wise was interviewed about her recent visit to the Solomon Islands on Sunday Daybreak with Wayne Clarke on BBC Radio Merseyside.

  • Youth With a Mission (YWAM) - The Trumpet Call. Do you have a sense that God is doing something new in our country? On Wednesday 9th November we were privileged to host an evening of worship and testimony to what God is doing, and hear the trumpet call for ourself! More details on the YWAM website.

  • Good news for Wirral! Wirral Youth for Christ (YFC) successfully applied for community funding of £6,000 from Natwest bank to continue running their brilliant Romance Academy project. The project is a unique 12 week venture which addesses the underlying causes of risky youth behaviour by promoting stable relationships. The course is delivered from a Christian perspective and helps young people grow in confidence, wisdom and maturity. Thanks to all of you who took the time to vote!

  • They're back! The mission team has now completed the 2011 mission trip in Uganda and arrived back in Heswall on Sunday 7th: Uganda homecoming 1

Please continue to pray for the young people and their leaders as they adjust back to life in the UK.

  • We are delighted to announce that Revd. Jacky Wise took up the post of Minister at the Church of the Good Shepherd in September and we very much look forward to working with her to develop the work of the church and to build God's kingdom together.

  • Enjoying God's Presence - over the weekend of Friday 16th September - Sunday 18th September we hosted a special weekend of spiritual refreshment, encouragement and worship led by a team from the Northumbrian Centre of Prayer for Christian Healing. The weekend, which was open to everyone, started on Friday evening and continued throughout Saturday before concluding at our main morning services on Sunday.

  • We are also pleased to be working with Keith Kelly as the new caretaker for the Church of the Good Shepherd and the Parish Hall. Keith is getting to know existing and new users of the church and hall buildings and is already making a visible difference ensuring that the buildings are well cared for. Keith can be contacted via the Parish Office.

  • Our Big Parish Weekend of the 18th and 19th June saw Jenny and Jim Bridgman ordained priest on Saturday 18th at Chester Cathedral, followed on Sunday 19th by Jim and Jenny celebrating their first holy communion as priests at a joint parish service at St Peters at 10.45am. This was then  followed by a church family barbeque lunch at St Peters School.
